Adjei Agyemang, a young forensic scientist trained in the UK, returns to Ghana for what he believes will be a straightforward assignment: identify skeletal remains found in a farmer's field outside a rural village. But the villagers do not want his science. They speak of a curse, of a blue bird whose appearance foretells death, of spirits that guard the forest.
