The Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda of 4 June 2003

Office of the President of the Republic of Rwanda

This Constitution established Rwanda's constitutional order following its adoption by referendum in May 2003. It defines the foundations of the Republic and sets out the organisation and powers of the State, including the Executive, Parliament, the judiciary and other public institutions. It also establishes rules on citizenship, fundamental rights and freedoms, political participation, elections and the relationship between public authorities and citizens. The Constitution replaced the transitional Fundamental Law that had previously governed Rwanda.
