National Telecommunications Policy of 1997

Government of the United Republic of Tanzania; telecommunications-sector policy document maintained by the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA).

This policy provides historical and institutional context for the development of Tanzania’s telecommunications sector. It sets out objectives concerning network expansion, universal access, competition, private-sector participation and the development of communications infrastructure to support national economic activity.
