National Livestock Policy (2006)
Ministry of Livestock Development, United Republic of Tanzania.
Tanzania's National Livestock Policy, issued in December 2006, sets out a framework for developing the livestock industry while protecting the natural resources on which it depends. It addresses livestock productivity, animal health, food security, processing and marketing, household income, employment and the development of a more commercially oriented livestock sector. The policy also considers changes in technology, trade and private-sector participation. It is useful to farmers, livestock-sector professionals, researchers and development organizations seeking to understand the government's approach to livestock production, rural livelihoods and the contribution of animal products to the national economy.
