South Africa's National Land Transport Act 5 of 2009

The National Land Transport Act 5 of 2009 provides the legal framework for South Africa's national land-transport system and continues the transformation and restructuring of land transport begun under earlier legislation. It sets responsibilities for different spheres of government, establishes institutional arrangements for transport regulation, provides for transport planning and funding, and regulates public-transport operating licences and related matters. The Act also provides for national, provincial and municipal transport planning and public-transport systems. It was amended by the National Land Transport Amendment Act 23 of 2023
