South Africa's Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act 32 of 2007

The Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act 32 of 2007 substantially reforms South Africa's law on sexual offences. It creates and defines statutory offences including rape and sexual assault, provides specific protections relating to children and persons with disabilities, establishes duties to report certain sexual offences, and provides for services and protections for victims. It also establishes the National Register for Sex Offenders and sets rules concerning the investigation and prosecution of sexual offences. The Act has been amended by several later laws, including amendments in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2020, 2021 and 2023.
