
South Africa's Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008

The Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 establishes national standards for protecting consumers and promoting a fair and accessible marketplace for goods and services. It addresses consumer rights including equality, privacy, choice, information, fair marketing, quality and safety, fair contractual terms, and mechanisms for complaints and redress. The Act also establishes the National Consumer Commission and provides a framework for enforcing consumer-protection rules. It has been amended by subsequent legislation, including the National Credit Amendment Act 19 of 2014.
