Rwanda Law No. 062/2024 of 20 June 2024 Governing Evidence

This law sets the rules governing evidence and its use in Rwanda's legal proceedings. It addresses general principles such as the burden of proof, the consequences of refusing to produce evidence, recognised types of evidence, and prohibited methods of obtaining it. The law also replaces and updates the earlier legal framework established by Law No. 15/2004 of 12 June 2004 relating to evidence and its production. The Chamber of Deputies adopted the law on 22 April 2024, and it was subsequently promulgated and published in the Official Gazette Special of 27 June 2024.
