The Promotion of Administrative Justice Act 3 of 2000 gives effect to the constitutional right to administrative action that is lawful, reasonable and procedurally fair, as well as the right to receive written reasons for administrative action. It establishes rules governing administrative decisions and provides mechanisms through which affected people can challenge administrative action. The Act forms an important part of South Africa's framework for accountable public administration and fair treatment by government bodies.
