The Petroleum Industry Act, 2021 provides the legal framework for the governance, administration, regulation and development of Nigeria's petroleum industry. It establishes institutions for the upstream and downstream petroleum sectors, provides for petroleum exploration and production, host communities, licensing and leases, environmental obligations, commercial regulation and the management of petroleum resources.
