The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 establishes the constitutional framework of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and sets out provisions governing the structure and powers of government, fundamental objectives and directive principles of state policy, citizenship and fundamental rights. It also contains provisions on the National Assembly, the Senate and House of Representatives, the executive, the judiciary, the Federal Capital Territory, local government, public institutions and other matters relating to the administration of the country. The Constitution provides the basis for the exercise of legislative, executive and judicial powers and sets out provisions concerning the rights and duties of citizens.
