
National Heritage Resources Act 25 of 1999

The National Heritage Resources Act 25 of 1999 establishes an integrated system for identifying, protecting and managing South Africa's national heritage resources. It sets principles for heritage management and provides for national, provincial and local heritage authorities. The Act covers heritage sites, protected areas, heritage registers, archaeological and palaeontological resources, meteorites, burial grounds and graves, public monuments and memorials, heritage objects, conservation-worthy places and the management of nationally significant heritage resources.
