Minamata Convention on Mercury

The Minamata Convention on Mercury is a global environmental treaty adopted in 2013 to protect human health and the environment from anthropogenic emissions and releases of mercury and mercury compounds. The Convention establishes measures covering mercury mining, trade, products and processes containing mercury, emissions, releases, storage and waste management. Nigeria is a party to the Convention.
