The Comprehensive Rural Development Programme is a national framework aimed at reducing poverty and food insecurity through community-based rural development. It promotes sustainable rural communities, improved livelihoods, better use of natural resources and coordinated development planning across government institutions. The programme forms an important part of South Africa's rural development strategy.
