African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights

The African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights sets out fundamental rights and freedoms as well as the duties of individuals and principles concerning peoples’ rights in Africa. Adopted in 1981, it also establishes the framework for the African human-rights system and provides for the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
